For the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Cleveland exhibition, Constant as the Sun, artist Liz Maugans has invited all self-identified artists in Cuyahoga County to submit a self-portrait “to be shown as a collective statement that problematizes how artists are currently defined, supported, or excluded.” Maugans’ installation is entitled The Artist’s Trust: A Portrait of the Artist in Cuyahoga County, and features nearly 400 self-portraits by Cuyahoga County artists in a variety of media. Among the featured artists is Nancy Schwartz Katz, whose self portrait stands out for its layered paper cutting in vibrant colors.
