Opening reception October 15
Open to the public October 16, 2016
Visit with Nancy in the gallery October 16, 1-3pm.
This exhibition features artwork created by alumni of the Parsons School of Design in a wide range of fields including (but not limited to) graphic design, lighting design, architecture, fine art, film making, product design, interactive design, animation, communication design, illustration, game design, jewelry design, writing, photography, marketing, advertising, accessory design, costume design, and fashion design. More than 600 works of art were submitted.
Nancy’s contribution is the intricate, six-layer papercut, Homeland/Promised Land, which was inspired by Ruth Calderon’s 2013 speech to the Israeli Knesset. It represents hope for a mutual understanding between all the religious sects in Israel, a theme culturally relevant in Israel today. As Parsons’ alumni community is a network of creative, progressive thinkers located all over the United States and in more than 120 countries, this exhibition provides an excellent platform through which to disseminate the message of peace that Nancy’s papercut embodies.
